My Film Opening

27- Props and costumes

Our props for our opening title are quite simple we are just going to be using cardboard boxes like the boxes people use when they are moving in or out of a house. We will have items in the boxes that we will bring out throughout it like cushions and lamps etc. There will also be furniture in the background of the room. Covered up with a plastic sheet to show that the furniture is new and not been used.

Casting- 26

We have chosen to use Robert Luke and Ella Willies for our film opening

We thought this would be a good idea because they are in a relationship in real life so they have intimacy and a connection with each other. Both of them also have funny senses of humour they both like to have a laugh which is what we need. Rob and Ella both look quite young but yet mature so i think they could pull off being a young couple moving in with each other. I have asked both of them and they are both available to act in the film which is also great they are both doing theatre studies for A-Level so could make they're acting realistic, which will make it easier for the audience to believe and will engage them in the story instead of the audience thinking they are just acting.

Sound- Song 21

Rom-coms tend to use uplifting and catchy songs in the opening titles as it gets people in the mood for the rest of the movie.
I found this sound from freeplaymusic.com, my group and i decided this was a perfect choice as its very happy and cherpy, but also romantic. It starts of with a piona playing softly and then more instriments start to join in!

Narrative theories-19

I think Tzvetan Todorov fits into our film quite well as we are wanting our film to be like normal life even though it sounds a bit over the top these things happen in real life, but these are the qualities that get the audience attracted.

Story Arc-18

Our story is based on a romantic comedy. The film is based on 2 characters love lives. At the beginning of the story our characters are madly in love. But something goes wrong and the couple separate for what they think is the better, or is it? In this move you witness the thrills as the couple find out who they truly are and what they need in life. (Each other). Throughout the film the story will be split into 5 acts. Act 1 will contain all the thrills and fun of the relationship. Act 2 will contain the breakup between the couple as they express their hatred to one another. Act 3 will show the couple individually as they get on with their lives. Act 4 they both realize that they miss each other, so they both try to make each other jealous by hooking up with other people. Act 5 will show the couple getting back together and living happily ever after.

Key Elements in Rom-Com opening- 17

Good music- which gets people in the right mood, and attracts them to the movie
Humour- so they know that their going to have fun
well know actors-gets them intrested
giving a tiny hint to what might happen later in the movie- as all rom coms are quite obvious
happy atmosphere and a clear point!

Institutions- 16

Sony Pictures- used by Fun with Dick and Jane
Is the television and film production/distribution unit of Japanese multinational technology and media conglomerate Sony. Its group sales in 2010 has been reported to be of $7.2 billion.
Sony has created numerous other film production and distribution units, such as creating Sony Pictures Classics for art-house fare, by forming Columbia TriStar Pictures by merging Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures in 1998, revitalizing Columbia's former television division Screen Gems, and expanded its growth on April 8, 2005, when a consortium led by Sony and its equity partners acquired the legendary Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in a deal worth nearly US$5 billion
United International Pictures- Love Actualy

is one of the world's leading film distribution companies.  Jointly owned by Paramount and Universal, They bring many of the most exciting films made today to international cinema audiences. UIP's Non-Theatrical rights are worldwide, outside North America. For audiences outside conventional cinemas can licence titles for group screenings on video or DVD to film clubs, schools, universities, tour operators, coaches and other institutions normally three months after the cinema release.
For our movie we would use simular Companys as they seem to be the same trend in movies, and are filled with success. Also if some one liked those movies and see we'r using the same companies they might want to see our movie just because of this reason.

Pearl and Dean- 15

The cinema is the best environment in which to showcase any brand. The audience is in a relaxed, receptive state of mind. There are no distractions and advertising is seen as part of the whole cinema experience. This results in cinema advertising being the most impactful media channel available.
All of this has resulted in an increasingly diverse range of audiences going to the cinema on a regular basis, all of them highly targetable by any number of criteria including film choice and location.
Which means Pearl and Dean target certain audience groups depending on the movie catorgory. For example if an action movie was playing the might avertise other action movies simular, or mens aftershave as they know men will be the dominet audience.
So when playing my movie in theatre i would do the same.

Audience-14

I think my perfect audience would be females from ages 15 upwards, as rom coms are normaly really girly and are girls number one choice. I recon the females that would attend his would just be normal, not chavs however not snobbs either. However their might be a couple of men dragged in there by their gf!

I went on http://www.findyourtribe.co.uk/ to find my audience type.
Your job might be a bit boring but it brings home the bacon and helps you save up for those two weeks away to Spain. Your weekends are set in stone – trip to the shops in town, buy yourself something nice, head to the All Bar One with friends, have a laff, maybe go for a club, as long as there’s none of the indie weirdo music.

i also got one of my friends who love rom com to fill in the same quiz to find what group she fits into.
You are a Rah! There’s nothing like a good gaffaw on the young society scene for one’s weekend. Head up to Henley in the 4 x 4 with a bunch of mates from Bristol. It’s all about having fun right now, but you’ll ask Daddy to put the feelers out for that job in the city on Monday. There’s plenty of time when one is young, no?

Mood board 12

My mood bored gives the impression that theres a lot of stress in the relationship through words and pictures. It also shows the move to the new house which is the opening. The colours i used were purple and reds as their very warm romantic colours.

Screen Shots- Fun with Dick and Jane-11

In this opening, its all about how everything is going perfect in this family life, including their career, new house, home life, and success. But later in the movie it soon changes, this story really connotes the theme im using for my opening.
Key Shots

The first thing that appears on the story line, sets the scene and time. This helps audience understand that this was before everything went wrong, its key for the audience to understand this.

The first character is introduced immediately, with a close up- to show personal features and facial expressions, later on hes shown as a clumsy funny character.

Later in the opening, hes shown at work and how he has a leading role in the work environment and is made to shown successful and obviously very happy with his lifestyle!

Later in the opening his wife is introduced.. again at work showing success. I will use this as inspiration to introduce my characters in different ways to each other.

Next shows workers getting the house finished and perfect and every body rushing. The shot is a long shot so everything is seen, I will obviously be doing something simular involving worker bring in boxes and furniture.

This one shows the whole family looking pleased with their new house/grass with at a low shot, making the family members looking big and on top, which connoates how they feal. I will use this as inspiration as i want my characters to represent a feeling like this too!

When the opening is finsished the theme then turns back into a cartoon like the first one, i think this is important for this scene as it adds a fun atmosphere. I could maybe use this byb using light lighting to represent happiness in my opening.
